Multi-tier rack for storing sheet metal at the manufacturing site

A Kyiv-based manufacturer of profiled sheeting approached FORSTOR. The company needed a reliable solution for storing sheet metal in a limited warehouse space. The main requirements for the project were maximum capacity of the racking system, protection against deformation, and convenient access to materials for daily shipments.

Compact 6-tier racking system

For this project, FORSTOR engineers developed a sturdy rack for sheet metal storage featuring pull-out shelves. The modular design features 6 storage levels with a maximum load of up to 2000 kg per tier. The total height of the rack is 2300 mm, which allowed for the effective use of the room's vertical space without creating excessive load on the structure. A convenient pull-out shelf system with handles on each shelf provides easy access for personnel to individual batches of sheet metal.

Prevention of sheet deformation

The shelves are adapted to the standard sheet size of 1250x2500 mm, ensuring the sheets remain within the protective frame during storage. The pull-out structure slides on a steel roller system, which ensures smooth movement of each tier. The shelves are also reinforced with longitudinal stiffeners for even load distribution. This prevents sagging, edge deformation, and distortion of sheet geometry.

Efficient storage in a minimal space

The modular rack for sheet metal has open access to each storage level, which speeds up staff operations and reduces material handling time. The solution optimized the use of warehouse space without changing the layout of the premises.
